Opportunities for Ministry

The easiest way of making friends and feeling involved. We would like to draw to your attention the different ministries that are available at Saint Luke’s parish. Please indicate which ministries you can do best for God. Please use initials from Parish Roll column in Ministries below

TEACHING

SOCIAL FELLOWSHIP

BIBLE STUDY: Be part of a bible study either to participate or to be trained as a leader

CELL GROUPS: Want to start a cell group that takes place in different homes and are facilitated by individuals who feel confident that they can manage a group of people.

PRAYER WARRIORS: We have a visiting team who visits, pray and meet with parishioners in their own home. It is simply to promote FELLOWSHIP. This is also a time where we soak the parish, our communities, our country, and the world in prayer.

HOSPITAL VISITING: Being in hospital could be a lonely experience for many individuals. We are trying to provide visits to individuals whilst they are in hospital.

SOCIAL OUTREACH PROGRAMS: Volunteer to engage with social outreach programs in our community.

VISITING TEAM: We would like to establish a team that will participate in visiting parishioners on a regular basis. This will help the clergy to get to know if there are concerns within the community but also to affirm the different families that make up the community of ST Luke’s

WORSHIP SUPPORT

PASTORAL TEAM: volunteer to help with the serving of the communion to the sick.

MEDIA: Operate the computer during services, individuals that monitor the sound equipment within the church.

PARISH COUNCIL: The parish council are the individuals that look after the overall business of the church including the vision of the parish.

READING IN CHURCH: lay people to read during worship services.

SACRISTANS: Prepare the vestments and the cruets for the communion service on Sunday. They also make sure that the altar linen is clean at all times.

SERVERS GUILD: Is a team of people who assist during the celebration of worship. This ministry is for young and old.

PARISH MINISTERS: These individuals lead worship, especially on a Sunday. They also provide Holy Communion and prayer to our home bound parishioners.

HOSPITALITY: Individuals are encouraged to take one Sunday and offer to make tea and provide eats.

WELCOME TEAM/DESK: Individuals that visit the church often do so with the intention of joining. The welcome desk provides a facility for people to ask questions and help them feel that they have been listened to. We are looking for individuals to form a team.

YOUTH: St Luke’s has always taken young people’s ministry seriously and will continue to do so. For parents and adults who have a desire to serve the youth, there are a variety of ways to contribute.

MUSIC CHOIR: This group leads the church in singing on Sundays and special occasions. Anyone with a voice and willingness to sing is welcome

FIRST AID: Please indicate if you can assist in emergencies during worship, when medical attention is required. *

FLOWER ARRANGERS: Someone that can assist in arranging flowers for special occasions at the church. *

FUND RAISING: The ministry fundraiser plays a key role in financing the operations of the church ministry, which strongly influences how community members view the church. A competent fundraiser can support the church ministry and so much more. If you have experience as a fundraiser and believe God is calling you, there is an opportunity in St. Luke. *
